Sophiopolis

Sophiopolis was the capital of Metis, a core world in the Compact. A coastal city, it did not have a very tall skyline. The architecture and language suggested Celtic roots to the local culture. However, Metis was a matriarchal world steeped in Greek legend and mythology. It’s most notable landmark was a status of the Greek goddess of wisdom, Metis, depicted as emerging rather violently from the belly of Zeus, who, in the Athena birth myth, had swallowed her to prevent her from giving birth.

The government of Metis occupied a Parthenon-like structure atop a large hill overlooking the city.
