The Misty Mountains are a prominent mountain range on Amargosa that bisect the inhabited northern continent from north to south. They serve as a significant geographic boundary, separating the more sparsely populated Townships from the urban and industrial center of Lansdorp and the agrarian region surrounding Lake Anaronda.
The mountains play both a strategic and symbolic role in The Children of Amargosa. On a practical level, they form a natural barrier between the rural settlements—often home to more conservative or self-reliant communities—and the more cosmopolitan urban centers. This division becomes especially pronounced during the invasion of Amargosa, where the range complicates movement and communication between the two regions.
Notably, the Edoras Transit Center, a maglev terminal buried approximately 1000 meters beneath the mountaintop village of Edoras, is located within the Misty Mountains. This facility provides a hidden but critical access point between regions during the war, particularly for the Children of Amargosa, who take control of an abandoned maglev there to continue their resistance.
