Summary:
The Gene Cernan Spaceport serves as the primary planetary spaceport for Amargosa. Located near the city of Lansdorp, the spaceport functions as a hub for both commercial and military traffic. During the invasion of Amargosa, the spaceport became a critical evacuation point as invaders began systematically attacking outlying settlements and disrupting infrastructure. Refugees, including Davra Andraste, Eric Yuwono, Suvi Atall, Ellen Nardino, and Conner Duffy, made their way to the spaceport in an attempt to flee the planet.
The spaceport included runways for fixed-wing aircraft and launch facilities for orbital and interstellar jump ships. It also included emergency facilities and infrastructure designed to process evacuees. However, during the crisis, it faced challenges including traffic gridlock, aerial attacks by alien forces, and overloaded evacuation capacities.
Access to the spaceport was made difficult due to destroyed infrastructure, including bombed-out bridges, and alien aerial patrols. However, the spaceport did survive the nearby fusion blast that destroyed Lansdorp. Despite these obstacles, the Colonial Guard and Youth Corps facilitated evacuation efforts, coordinating last-minute boardings of jump ships under fire. This included Eric Yuwono and Davra Andraste leading the others in their group through a subway tunnel and away from the blast zone above them, separated by layers of concrete and rock.
