The screenplay version of Storming Amargosa is complete. So now what? What do I do next?
Generally, when I finish a book project, I riff until the next one is finished. This time, I’ve started on the sequel to Holland Bay as it’s sitting on someone’s desk. Can’t say much, but I want to get a few chapters of a sequel in the can. My goal is to finish it by the end of the year. I’ll work on this for a couple more weeks before starting into Compact Universe #7, The Amortals. This used to be Quantonesia, but I didn’t like how that story turned out. So I’m rewriting it and planting some potential seeds for future Compact Universe stories.
Beyond that, I have to convert Storming Amargosa into prose. Here’s hoping the screenplay speeds the process along. I’ll return to the crime novel before doing Compact Universe #8. I’m thinking of doing that one longhand for the same reason I did Storming‘s rough draft as a screenplay. Hopefully, by the end of the year, I’ll have Storming in beta, the crime novel in rough draft, and Compact Universe #9 done.
It’s April, and it’s a lot of work. But I have a deck. And I’m not afraid to use it.
